On July 1st 2017, the first picnic was held by Chicagoan Uzbeks in Katherine Legge Memorial Park located just outside of Chicago city.

On July 1st  2017, the first picnic was held by Chicagoan Uzbeks in Katherine Legge Memorial Park located just outside of Chicago city. This picnic was organized by the Uzbek American Association of Chicago.

Except Uzbeks, approximately 300 attendees that included local Americans and people from the former Soviet Union, participated in the picnic. There were also guests from Wisconsin, Indiana and other states.

During the picnic, a competition was held under the title of “What can you say about Uzbeks and Uzbekistan?” for those who spoke Uzbek as a second language. Prizes were given to those who spoke well in Uzbek.

In addition, games such as volleyball and soccer were played.

The picnic participants enjoyed traditional foods such as plov and shashlik [kebab] and interacted with each other during the event. The children also had fun.

In sum, this picnic was enjoyable and memorable.
